Central Coast Woman Gets 15 To Life For Killing CHP Officer

San Luis Obispo - from KCOY CBS 12- A Central Coast woman convicted of killing a
CHP Officer will spend 15 years to life behind bars.
Kaylee Weisenberg was sentenced to state prison today for hitting and killing
CHP Officer Brett Oswald of Atascadero.
Back in June 2010 Officer Oswald was standing on South River Road waiting for a
tow truck when Wiesenberg hit and killed him.
The prosecutor says the 23-year old was under the influence of methamphetamine
and speeding at the time.
Wiesenberg became emotional when she was found guilty of second degree murder
and vehicular manslaughter in August.
She hired a new attorney who asked the judge today, before sentencing, to give
her client a new trial.
The Judge did not grant the new trial and proceeded with sentencing.
Weisenberg's attorney says they plan to appeal.
