Information Drive at 5 with Mike Mesmer: Monday-Friday, 5pm-6pm
I was born with a set of headphones on, I think. From the day I was born, both parents worked at a radio station. My dad was a newscaster, also on TV and my mom was a Music Director. I was always wanting to know the “why?” and “how come?” of everything, even as a kid!!! I got the radio bug at 9 when I introduced my dad’s newscast on LA’s KRLA back in the early 1960’s as a gag, got a call from a teenage girl who said I sounded “cute” and was hooked !! My radio news broadcasting career began during the Expo 74 World’s Fair in Spokane, WA, and got my chops interviewing everyone from Soviet leaders, to then Vice President Gerald Ford… baptism under fire, so to speak. I then spent several years working in radio and news in San Diego, CA, Los Angeles and Orange County, before coming to the Central Coast as the News Director of a local radio station, and am now happy to bring my love for news to the listeners of AM1440.
