AM1440 and AM1410 News

THE GUADALUPE CITY COUNCIL IS MEETING TONIGHT AND WILL DISCUSS WHETHER A PERMANENT BAN ON MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES IS NEEDED.. A MORATORIUM HAS BEEN IN PLACE SINCE MAY OF 2009 AROUND THE SAME TIME THAT A FORMER GUADALUPE RESIDENT SAID THAY HE INTENDED TO OPEN A DISPENSARY TO HELP THOSE WITH CHRONIC PAIN.. LAST MONTH, ON A 3 TO 1 VOTE, THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION AGREED TO REFER A PERMANENT BAN TO THE CITY COUNCIL WITHOUT TAKING A POSITION ON IT. SEVERAL CENTRAL COAST CITIES INCLUDING SANTA MARIA, BUELLTON, ARROYO GRANDE AND PISMO BEACH HAVE ALREADY PASSED LAWS PROHIBITING DISPENSARIES FROM OPENING WITHIN CITY LIMITS WHILE SANTA BARBARA COUNTY PASSED A MORATORIUM JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO. TONIGHT'S MEETING IS PLANNED FOR 6PM AT GUADALUPE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS LOCATED AT 918 OBISPO STREET.
