SLO County Supervisor Wants to Delay Diablo Plant Relicensing until after Earthquake Study

A SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY SUPERVISOR WANTS A DELAY IN THE RELICENSING PROCESS FOR THE DIABLO CANYON NUCLEAR POWER PLANT UNTIL THE EFFECTS OF A RECENTLY DISCOVERED EARTH QUAKE FAULT CAN BE STUDIED.. PG AND E HAS PROPOSED DUINT E REMETION MAPPING OF THE OCEAN FLOOR TO STUDY THE SHORELINE FAULT WHICH WAS DISCOVERED IN LATE 2008.. SUPERVISOR DAN HILL WHOSE DISTRICT INCLUDE THE POWER PLANT HAS ALREADY SENT A LETTER OF HIS OWN TO THE N-R-C ASKING FOR THE DELAY BUT HAVING A LETTER FROM THE OTHER BOARD MEMBERS, COULD CARRY MUCH MORE WEIGHT.. THE SUPERVISOR COULD ALSO DECIDE TODAY WHETHER TO SEND A LETTER TO THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION URGING THEM TO APPROVE PG AND E'S REQUEST TO HAVE ITS CUSTOMERS PAY FOR THE NEARLY $ 17 MILLION DOLLAR STUDY OF THE FAULT WHICH SOULD TAKE THREE YEARS TO COMPLETE..

THE SUPERVISORS MEET AT 1055 MONTEREY STREET IN SAN LUIS OBISPO..
