Woman Killed in Traffic Collision on the Nipomo Mesa was Allan Hancock College Student

AN ARROYO GRANDE WOMAN KILLED IN A TRAFFIC COLLISION ON THE NIPOMO MESA HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED.. THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS 20 YEAR OLD ALICIA CARRERAS, A STUDENT AT ALLAN HANCOCK COLLEGE, WAS DRIVING NORTH ON STANTON ROAD SOUTH OF LYN ROAD AT AROUND 3AM THURSDAY WHEN FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON, HER CAR WENT OFF THE WESTERN EDGE OF THE ROAD AND HIT A TREE.. THE CRASH WASN'T DISCOVERED UNTIL SOMEONE PASSED BY ABOUT TWO AND A HALF HOURS LATER.. CARRERAS, WHO WAS ALONE IN THE NISSAN MAXIMA WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.. ALTHOUGH DRUGS AND ALCOHOL ARE NOT BELIEVED TO HAVE PLAYED A ROLE IN THE COLLISION, THE C-H-P IS STILL AWAITING TOXOCOLOGY RESULTS.
