With No State Budget, Local Medical Clinics Starting to Feel the Pinch

image

THERE IS STILL NO BUDGET APPROVED IN CALIFORNIA, AND IT'S HAVING AN EFFECT ON SOME ORGANIZATIONS THAT PROVIDE HEALTH CARE ON THE CENTRAL COAST. ONE OF THEM IS THE EASTSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD CLINIC IN SANTA BARBARA. WITH NO FUNDING FOR PROGRAMS LIKE MEDI-CAL, THE CLINIC WON'T BE REIMBURSED FOR MORE THAN 30% OF THEIR PATIENTS.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CYNDER SINCLAIR SPOKE WITH KCOY CBS 12 AND SAYS THEY WILL BE FORCED TO PICK UP SOME OF THE COST WHICH COULD BE AS MUCH AS $500,000.
ALTHOUGH THE CLINIC WILL EVENTUALLY BE REIMBURSED FOR OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES, CUTS ARE EXPECTED TO THE MEDI-CAL PROGRAM.
