Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Meg Whitman Blames Governor and Legislators for Not Reaching Deal on State Budget

REPUBLICAN GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE MEG WHITMAN IS BLAMING GOVERNOR ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER AND LEGISLATIVE LEADERS FOR FAILING TO RESOLVE THE BUDGET CRISIS. SPEAKING AT A CAMPAIGN STOP IN FOLSOM ON WEDNESDAY, WHITMAN SAID THAT CALIFORNIA SUFFERS FROM A TREMENDOUS LACK OF LEADERSHIP IN SACRAMENTO AND SAID IF SHE WERE GOVERNOR, SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN MEETING WITH THE FOUR LEGISLATIVE LEADERS DAILY AND "CHAINED THEM TO THE DESK TO GET IT DONE." AT THE CLOSE OF THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION, LAWMAKERS WERE UNABLE TO REACH AN AGREEMENT ON HOW TO ELIMINATE A $19 BILLION BUDGET DEFICIT TWO MONTHS AFTER THE NEW FISCAL YEAR BEGAN.
