Santa Barbara Judge Could Determine David Attias' Fate as Early as Today

image

A Santa Barbara Judge could rule as early as today on whether David Attias, who struck and killed four people with his car on a crowded Isla Vista Street and critically injured a fifth person, could be released from Patton State Hospital and into an outpatient treatment center. The incident happened more than ten years ago. Attias, a former UCSB student who is bipolar and has a personality disorder, was convicted by a jury on four counts of second degree murder, but was found to be legally insane at the time.
