Unmanned Air Force Space Plane Lands at Vandenberg Air Force Base after More Than a Year in Orbit
After more than 15 months in orbit, an unmanned Air Force space plane returned to Earth at Vandenberg Air Force Base just before dawn on Saturday morning. The X-37B orbital test vehicle conducted undisclosed experiments during its 460 day mission after launching from Cape Canaveral, Florida in March of 2011. It is the second of two identical craft launched into orbit for extended periods of time. The first one in 2010 spent seven months in orbit. Another mission is planned for the fall of this year.
