At Least 70 Acres Burned in Vegetation Fire in SLO County
A vegetation fire in San Luis Obispo County burned at least 70 acres and is now contained. It was first reported around 12:45 pm Monday in a rural area near Ranchita Canyon Road northeast of San Miguel and fire personnel from SLO County and San Benito, Monterey County and Cal Fire units were among those that responded and worked to stop the flames from spreading. The cause of the fire was related to a metal disc striking a rock while a rancher mowed his field. No structures were reported threatened and there were no injuries.
