CHP Concludes Investigation into Train Vs. Vehicle Traffic Collision that Killed Father and Daughter Near Guadalupe
The California Highway Patrol says they have closed their investigation into a train vs. vehicle crash near Guadalupe that killed a father and his one year old daughter. However, investigators were unable to determine whether 26 year old Antonio Ortiz intentionally parked his vehicle on the train tracks in April or if the collision was an accident. Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene, while his one year old daughter Azulmi died after being taken to Marian Medical Center. The CHP says they based their information on witness accounts and physical evidence and determined that the car was not in motion when it was hit by the train and is being classified as a "traffic incident" rather than a traffic collision. The CHP's report has been sent to Sacramento.
