Santa Barbara County Will Not Have Ballot Measure to Increase Hotel Bed Tax on the November Ballot
The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors have decided not to place a measure on the November ballot asking to increase the County's transient occupancy or hotel bed tax from 10% to 12%. The idea was proposed by Fifth District Supervisor Steve Lavagnino and was discussed during a 40 minute meeting on Tuesday but the rest of the board did not even vote on whether to put the issue before voters when it became apparent that they would not get the four fifths vote needed to make that happen. The cities of Buellton, Solvang and Carpinteria are putting measures on the November ballot asking voters whether they should increase their hotel bed tax from 10% to 12% which they hope would bring in more revenue.
