Santa Maria Man Arrested for Trying to Hijack Helicopter in Yuba County

A Santa Maria man has been arrested after authorities say that he tried to hijack a helicopter at the Yuba County Airport. Zachary Hinders reportedly jumped into the back of a helicopter on Thursday afternoon and ordered the pilot to take off, but the pilot refused and told him to get out. Hinders, who was not armed, was seen running from the helicopter and was later arrested near the airport. HE was booked into Yuba County Jail on suspicion of burglary and attempted theft.
