FBI Arrests Santa Barbara Most Wanted Fugitive in Guatemala
SANTA BARBARA, Calif - from KCOY CBS 12 - FBI agents have arrested a man accused of molesting a 4-year-old girl in 1994. Jeffrey Reed Parish, who was on the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department Top 10 Most Wanted, was arrested in Guatemala.
In early 2011, the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office Felony Fugitive Unit and agents with the FBI began reexamining Parish's case. Information was developed recently that lead investigators to a small town in Guatemala, Panajachel, where it was believed that Parish was living.
Information was passed on to FBI agents in that region who coordinated with the Guatemalan authorities. Parish was located and arrested without incident.
The Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office believes that during Parish's time in Santa Barbara County in the early 90s, Parish may have molested other victims before his arrest. If you have any information on other individuals who may have been victims of Parish contact the Sheriff's Department immediately at 805-681-4150.
