Santa Barbara County Hoping to get $80 Million Dollars to Build New North County Jail
Santa Barbara County is another step closer to being awarded another $20 million dollars to help build a new North County jail. The Board of State and Community Corrections authorized the additional funding giving the County $80 million dollars for construction of a new facility. Final approval is still needed from the Debt Advisory Committee and the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors. County officials say a new North County Jail is needed because the main jail and attached security facility is very overcrowded.
