Rite Aid Workers Including on the Central Coast Vote Overwhelmingly to Authorize Strike
Rite Aid workers throughout Southern California including here on the Central Coast have voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike. The vote, which also included rejecting proposed concessions by the company in the employee's next labor contract, grants leaders of seven local unions of the United Food and Commercial Workers the authority to call a strike if the union feels one is necessary. Rite Aid is seeking 34 concessions from employees, including the effective elimination of health care for workers' spouses and children. In a statement, Rite Aid said they will work with UFCW leaders to reach a new agreement which is fair to all involved.
