Judges Rules that Santa Barbara Ranch Project Along Gaviota Coast Can Move Forward
A setback for environmental groups who are trying to stop the Santa Barbara Ranch project along the Gaviota coast. The groups had filed a lawsuit regarding the 71 unit luxury residential subdivision first approved by the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors in 2008. They were concerned that last minute changes to grade more soil would hurt the environment, but a judge on Tuesday ruled that the changes were not significant enough to stop the project. A representative with the Environmental Defense Center says they may appeal the court's decision and go to the California Coastal Commission.
