Atascadero Seeing Building Boom
Some are calling it a building book in Atascadero. Plans for a new hotel off Highway 101 next to the vineyards are moving forward, in addition to a new development with five retail stores and a new Walmart, whichw as just approved.
A new mattress store opened in February. Associate Lonny Winter says they chose Atascadero because of the growth in the area, and he welcomes new developers.
Atascadero Mayor Bob Kelly tells KCOY CBS 12 and the Information Station that they have over 200 applications in their building department for new housing units in town. The City estimates that the new hotel could bring in around $730,000 in additional revenue per year, between 50-100 construction jobs and two dozen permanent jobs once the hotel is built.
