Filing Deadline Expires; Four Candidates Emerge for Mayor of Santa Maria, Three for City Council
It looks like it's going to be a four-person race for Mayor in Santa Maria in November. With the close of the filing period on Wednesday, the Santa Maria City Clerks Office tells the Information Station that four candidates did qualify to run in the November election with current Mayor Larry Lavignino deciding not to run for re-election. Those candidates include current City Councilmembers Mike Cordero and Alice Patino, Dan Gebhart and Marty Mariscal. Three people have qualified for the ballot to run for two seats on the City Council, which include current Council Member Bob Orach, Terri Zuniga and Etta Waterfield.
