Michael Holdin Facing Rape Charge Appears in Santa Barbara Courtroom
A man charged with rape after his DNA was matched with an aborted fetus was in a Santa Barbara courtroom on Thursday. Michael Holden was arrested after a woman said that he raped her and she became pregnant and had an abortion. Police say Holden fled to Mexico in February but was eventually arrested. Prosecutor Paula Waldman tells KCOY CBS 12 and the Information Station that she can add Holden's prior convictions to the charges, meaning he could face up to 16 years in prison.
Holden has a prior conviction from 1995 for a first degree residential burglary and also has a pending petty theft case out of Palo Alto. He is expected back in court next month.
