Marijuana Eradication Operation Conducted
A marijuana eradication operation last week inside the Los Padres National Forest takes out a total of about 11,557 mature marijuana plants with an estimated street value of close to $30 million dollars. In addition, processed marijuana was also seized, with a street value of approximately $95,000. The days-long operation covered the Sierra Madre area, southwest of Cuyama and the East Camino Cielo area. Part of the operation also included an ecological rescue and cleanup with trash, tents, tarps and several different chemicals cleaned up. In all, about 2,300 pounds of trash was picked up. No arrests were made, but officials say there was evidence of recent habitation prior to the raids.
