Cause Determined for Vegetation Fire near Highway 101 and Refugio Road
A 10 acre vegetation fire that burned near northbound Highway 101 and Refugio Road in Santa Barbara County was caused by an electrical arc. Captain David Sadecki tells the Information Station that "the fire which started just before 4:30 pm on Monday happened at the base of a power pole when a bird caused an electrical power to arc, down a support line attached to the ground and ignited nearby vegetation." One structure was threatened but no evacuations were ordered and no injuries were reported. It took about two and a half hours to get the fire under control.
