A man trying to put out a vegetation fire in Cambria is found dead. Just before 2:00 pm on Tuesday, Cal Fire responded to the 5000 block of Santa Rosa Creek Road after the fire was started by a rancher welding corral fencing on the property adjacent to the road. Cal Fire personnel located a 59 year old man unresponsive who had collapsed on a tractor he had been using to fight the fire before help arrived. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful and 59 year old Wade Lee Rhoades of Cambria was pronounced dead at the scene. The manner and cause of death will be determined by San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Coroner investigators. Cal Fire crews did extinguish the fire which burned less than a quarter acre.
