Man Charged with Murder in Paso Robles Wants to Withdraw Plea on the Day He Was Scheduled to be Sentenced
Alfonso Fierros scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday to at least 25 years in state prison for killing a man in Paso Robles instead asked to withdraw his no contest plea and also wants a new attorney. The 33 year old and three others were charges with the murder of 55 year old Robert Uyeno which occurred at the Farmhouse Motel in Paso Robles last summer. Fierros is accused of slashing the man's throat in what authorities say was a methamphetamine fueled crime that occurred during a robbery attempt. Fierros originally pleaded no contest to first degree murder in July but Superior Court Judge John Trice continued the case to Thursday when he will consider the defense's request for a new attorney and changing the plea. Last week, Jennifer Velten was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for her role in the crime, while sentencing for Tabitha Brown is scheduled for September 6th and a fourth defendant John Barrett was declared incompetent to stand trial.
