A man was shot to death and his wife is reported to be in critical condition after being shot at Orcutt Community Park by a suspect believed to be their son. It happened during a family barbecue at Orcutt Community Park on Sage Crest Drive just after 6:00 pm Monday, when Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies and California Highway Patrol officers responded to a 911 call reporting multiple shots fired. The male victim was found dead at the scene while the female was transported to the hospital. The suspect had left the scene in a black Jeep which was later found abandoned on the Stowell Road overpass. The suspect, who was not identified, was arrested after showing up to the hospital for an unrelated medical issue and was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail. Although the suspect is believed to be the son of the two victims, the motive for the shooting is still under investigation. The names of the two people shot were not immediately released.
