Attorney for Defendant Charged in Alleged Sexual Assault in Santa Maria Valley to get Limited Access to Facebook and Other Records
A Santa Maria judge has granted an attorney limited access to Facebook and other records of an alleged sexual assault victim. 18 year old Shane Villalpando and a juvenile are facing criminal charges in connection with an alleged sexual assault involving a student at St. Joseph High School. The Santa Maria Times reports that while the defense had asked for records spanning a broader window, Judge Ed Bullard agreed to allow access to Facebook and journal records of the alleged victim dated 30 days prior to January 12th of this year and 30 days afterward. The case is expected back in court on October 25th. Villalpando remains free on bail.
Meanwhile, the current Principal at St. Joseph High School Joseph Myers, who is on paid leave, and the former Dean of Students John Walker, are facing midemeanor charges for failing to immediately report the alleged sexual assault and are due back in court next Tuesday.
