Orcutt Man Charged with Shootings that Left Father Dead and Stepmother Injured Pleads Not Guilty in Court
The Orcutt man charged with shooting and killing his father and critically wounded his stepmother appeared in court. 40 year old Brian Reid pleaded not guilty to several charges including murder and attempted murder following the shooting on Labor Day at Orcutt Community Park that left 77 year old William Reid dead and 66 year old Pamela Reid in the hospital for several days. She has since been released. Reid also denied special allegations against him including using a gun. Deputy District Attorney Brook Gerard tells KCOY CBS 12 and the Information Station that there is little they can say about the shooting.
Brian Reid's daughter and his estranged wife claim that he was retaliating against his father for allegedly sexually abusing at least one of his daughters over the past several years. Another court hearing has been scheduled for October 29th. Reid remains in county jail without bail.
