Apartment Complex in Lompoc Evacuated after Debris and Structure Fire
Investigators are looking into the cause of a debris and structure fire in Lompoc that led to the evacuation of an apartment complex. Crews responded around 3:30 am on Tuesday to the 700 block of North F Street. Lompoc Fire Battalion Chief Stan Hart tells the Information Station that furniture, including a couch that was right next to the wall of an apartment complex, was on fire. There were also downed electrical power lines at the scene. Hart says that flames began extending to the outside of a two story apartment complex and 15 people inside were evacuated.
Eventually crews extinguished the fire and the occupants were allowed to go back into their apartments. Damage estimates were reported at approximately $60,000 including to three parked vehicles. How the fire started is under investigation.
