Former Santa Barbara City Councilwoman Facing DUI Charges Following Crash Last Week
The Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office has filed DUI charges against former Santa Barbara City Councilwoman Iya Falcone. She was arrested on September 19th after Faclone said she had two glasses of wine at the Mesa Cafe before getting into her car and hitting a parked vehicle in a parking lot off of Cliff Drive. Falcone left the scene on foot but she was later contacted by police. Two breath samples provided by Falcone showed her blood alcohol content at .24 and .23. She has now been charged with midemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while having a .08 or higher blood alcohol level. Falcone is expected to answer to the charges in court on October 25th.
