Man Tries to Rob Liquor Store in Santa Maria with Baseball Bat
A man who tried to rob a Santa Maria liquor store with a baseball bat has been arrested. Police responded to Maguey Liquor in the 400 block of West Main Street just after 10:00 pm on Saturday and found the suspect struggling with a male and female clerk inside. Officers learned that the suspect had charged into the store covering his face with his shirt and demanded money from the cash register. When he tried to grab the money, the clerks grabbed him and a violent confrontation ensued, which left the suspect with multiple contusions on his head and other injuries determined not to be life threatening. 21 year old Aldo Gonzales, believed to be a gang member, was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center and was then booked at the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's sub station jail on charges of robbery and a gang enhancement.
