Sink Hole Discovered in New Cuyama

A 30 foot sink hole was reported in the 200 block of Wasioja Road in New Cuyama. Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded just after 1:30 pm on Sunday and it is believed that the sinkhole was caused by a leak or break in a water line in the area. No one was injured, but the kiddie pool at the Joe Centeno Aquatics Complex was affected. Highway 166 remains open however Wasioja Road between Morales and Escuela Street will be closed until repairs can be made to the sinkhole. There was no estimate given on how long that would take.
