Santa Maria Police have arrested a documented gang member in connection with a shooting from over three years ago. Martin Contreras was involved in a shooting at which time he fired multiple rounds at the victim in the 500 block of West Donovan Road. No one was injured and Contreras fled the scene. He was later arrested in November of 2010 for a shooting that occurred outside the Tap Room Bar near the Santa Maria Inn, and while in jail Contreras was charged with an additional shooting that occurred on Roemer Way in October of 2010. Gang detectives gathered evidence to charge Contreras with the shooting from September of 2009 and on Wednesday Contreras, who is still in custody awaiting trial, was rebooked on another charge of attempted murder and a gang enhancement. His bail was set at $1.1 million dollars.
