Following a 5.3 magnitude earthquake that hit near King City, an "unusual event" was declared at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.
PG&E says the quake was felt in the plant's control room. One of the four emergency classifications established under the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, an "unusual event" is considered the lowest of the four.
No damage was reported and the unusual event has now been declared over. The Unit One and Unit Two reactors are operating safely and there was no impact on plant operations from the quake.
