Lompoc Man Shot to Death is Identified
A man who was found dead in a Lompoc alleyway has been identified and his brother is now speaking out.
On Saturday night just before 10:30 pm, police found the body of 34 year old Jose Lopez in the 400 block of the East Airport/Prune Alley. He had been shot multiple times. Lompoc Police Sgt. Chuck Strange tells KCOY CBS 12 and the Information Station that the Police Investigations Unit is aggressively pursuing active leads in this case.
He says, "They are trying to establish what the motive was, by talking to witnesses, that's why we're encouraging the public to come forward if they have any information regarding the incidents that night to contact our investigations section."
Julian Lopez was the last person to see his brother alive. He says, "We were at my nephew's party that night, everybody went their ways, we all went home, he went and came over here I guess, I guess he was just hanging around with the wrong crowd."
Lopez leaves behind three children, including a 13 year old son, a 5 year old daughter and a 2 year old baby boy.
Anyone with information is asked to call Lompoc Police at 736-2341.
