Three People Arrested Following Carjacking in Santa Maria
Santa Maria Police have arrested three people following a carjacking in Santa Maria. Just before 1:30 am on Monday, the male victim was sitting in his vehicle in the 700 block of West El Camino when he was approached by a Hispanic male and female who demanded a ride to the store. When he refused, both suspects walked across the street and after a short period of time, walked back to the victim and the male suspect pointed a handgun at him, demanding his vehicle and threatening his life. The victim complied and the suspects took off in the vehicle. Just after 12:30 pm on Monday, the victim spotted his vehicle parked in an alley near the 500 block of West Mill Street and called the police. As the suspects got into the vehicle, police conducted a high risk traffic stop and arrested 32 year old Leonardo Agustin and 22 year old Stephanie Vasquez, both from Santa Maria, for the carjacking, while Agustin is also accused of being a felon in possession of a handgun, making criminal threats and a parole violation. He is being held in county jail on a no bail hold. 25 year old Moises Rios from Santa Maria, who was also in the vehicle was arrested for an outstanding warrant and being under the influence of a dangerous drug.
