The suspect injured in an officer involved shooting in Paso Robles this past weekend has been identified.
On Saturday around 5:30 am, a CHP officer attempted to make a traffic stop on 22 year old Clifford Scott, Jr. of San Diego, driving a Chevy Camero on Highway 101 northbound, south of the South Spring Street exit. Scott continued driving and collided into a tree at 13th and Spring, led the officer on a pursuit before shots were exchanged between Scott and the officer at 14th and Park Streets, leaving both of them injured.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office says Scott was booked for a charge of attempted murder and remains hospitalized under guard at a local facility. The 30 year old CHP officer, who is a 6 year veteran of the agency and is assigned to the Templeton CHP office, was released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries and remains on paid administrative leave. The officer's name is expected to be released later this week. An investigation into the shooting is continuing.
