Santa Maria Man Killed in Head On Crash in Nipomo

A Santa Maria man is killed after a head on traffic collision in Nipomo. The California Highway Patrol says it happened just before 8:00 pm Saturday on Division Street west of Riverside Avenue when the driver of a Chrysler minivan traveling west at an unknown rate on speed crossed the center line and collided head on into a GMC pickup truck which was traveling eastbound at about 50 miles per hour. The driver of the minivan, who was the only person in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the GMC, a 25 year old man from Guadalupe, suffered major injuries, and a 22 year old passenger, also from Guadalupe, suffered minor injuries.
